2023 Mentorship Begins!!
With our 2023 mentorship concluded, we are super excited to be reaching more small scale business owners in Nigeria.
While we graduated 19 mentees last year, this year we have 23 mentees who have started the program already. These are people who have already started their businesses, and are looking to scale up.
They will be learning a lot about Growth Strategy, Strategic Plan, Financial Management, Core Values, Social Impact, Marketing, Overcoming Obstacles in Business etc.
What’s different this year?
This year, we have team leaders who will be assisting the program manager to better help the new mentees. They will also be assisting the mentees with class work, team building, class expectations and group assignments. These team leaders are mentees from last year whom we believe exemplified The Leader Team’s core values, and all the principles taught in class.
Another thing that is different is that unlike last year where we had some mentees that were yet to start their businesses, this year every mentee admitted into the program has a business they have been running for some time.
Last year, we had people who had business ideas but no capital to start. We successful started businesses for them, and are glad to watch them grow to become employers of labour.
Who are our mentees?
Our mentees comprise of business owners ranging from fashion designers, a farmer, a book store owner, food sellers, skin care products sellers, a hair dresser, a photographer, a plumber, bakers, cobbler, and a laundry person. It is a special blend of a variety of businesses.
This year, we created more time for our mentees to sit and discus after class. They will brainstorm on things learned in class, and find ways to better assist one another. This we believe will help them get to know themselves more and find ways to work better as a team.
This year also, we have nursing mothers, one has a is six months old baby, and the other has a three months old. The six month old is hardly brought to class, but the three months old Hariel comes to class with his mom, and he is the cutest! We are excited to watch Hariel grow for the the next seven months!!
Interestingly, last year we had a baby, William. He was around six months old when his mom got into the program, and we all got to watch him clock one year before our eyes!
We also have some mentees who do not have any formal education, these people never got the opportunity of attending school. Their stories are special and we are glad to be a part of it at this time!
